About Mount of Olives

We Want to Hear From You

May 13, 2020

Dear Friends,

Our mission at Mount of Olives Church in Mission Viejo is “to know Christ and make Him known” as Jesus commanded us in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). For over 50 years, we’ve gathered as a community to worship our Lord, study the Bible, serve others as Jesus teaches and reach others with the Good News in many different buildings, homes, retreat locations and mission fields. As a result of the current pandemic, the way we know Christ and make Him known has changed until we can gather again....

Join us online during our weekly Sunday morning worship services:

Sundays 8:30am - traditional worship

History of Mount of Olives

Mount of Olives Church is the first and oldest church in Mission Viejo, California, and in 2017 celebrated its 50th anniversary of service to its members and the community. In 1967, land was donated by the local developers to build the church if they would open the city’s first preschool. That same preschool, Robert H. Lange Christian Preschool, is still growing and thriving today.

Mount of Olives is committed to serving the entire family. Family ministries offer affordable and free parenting, marriage and financial courses to help people learn, grow and thrive as healthy families, the church recently built a 12,383 square-foot building dedicated to children’s ministry, nearly 20 years ago, the church bought a building across the street from the campus (the old Mission Viejo Library) to house the student ministry, and for 30 years the church has offered an Adult Day Program for seniors with mild cases of Alzheimer’s, dementia and other clinical conditions.

Since the 1990s, praise worship services have been offered with a live band and vocalists leading worship along with a more traditional service each weekend. Over 500 people are involved in small groups and hundreds of members have attended Cursillo a weekend retreat.

Mount of Olives has worked for the last 5 decades to be the hands and feet of Christ in Orange County and around the world living out the church’s mission “To Know Christ and Make Him Known.”
