Discipleship Part 2
The 15-second prayer that will change your day.
Before you walk out the door or log into work in the morning, pause and pray: "Lord, would You show me somebody I can share Christ with today. Bring someone my way. I'll trust You, I'll step out, and I'll give it a try. Lord, give me the boldness to step out and share Jesus Christ someone today. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen."
Romans 10:17: "So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ."

Mount of Olives | August 16, 2026 | John 1:40-46
Pastor John Steward
Prayer of the Day
Heavenly Father, what an inexpressible joy it is to know the saving grace provided by You through our Lord Jesus. The assurance that no matter our circumstances, You forgive us and ultimately desire the best for us; provides peace that passes all understanding. Thank You for Your grace as we attempt to devote our lives to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Scripture Reading
John 1:40-46
One of the two who heard John speak and followed him was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his brother Simon and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which is translated Anointed). He brought Simon to Jesus, who looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You are to be called Cephas" (which is translated Peter). The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me." Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, "We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth." Nathanael said to him, "Can anything good come out of Nazareth?" Philip said to him, "Come and see."
Message Notes
Romans 10:13-17
For, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" But not all have obeyed the good news; for Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the word of Christ.
Mark 5:18-20
As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by demons begged him that he might be with him. But Jesus refused, and said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy he has shown you." And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him; and everyone was amazed.
