Missions Ministry

We strive to serve and be witnesses for Christ by unleashing compassion in our church, community, country and world.

Some ways we do this at Mount of Olives is by supporting the Christ’s Hope International CarePoint in Keetmanshoop, Namibia, financially, as well as by providing educational and Christian mentor support to the orphans. We also support mission work in Honduras and Namibia by sending missionaries and support.

Christmas Service Projects

As we head toward the Christmas season, there are several service projects by which you can give and serve to support others in our community and around the world, in the name of Jesus. Projects run in October & November. Learn more below:

Each Christmas season, the people of Mount of Olives Church 'adopt', providing gifts and a Christmas meal, to about 250 people (angels) who make up about 45 families who regularly receive support from the Southwest Community Center in Santa Ana. Additionally, we provide grocery gift cards to South County Outreach to support families in crisis.

This year, we’re specifically asking for gift card donations that will be gifted to the parents of each family, to empower them to purchase Christmas gifts for their children. Participating helps show these families God’s love by giving a gift at Christmas — often these are the only gifts these families receive. We are also supplying grocery gift cards to provide a Christmas Meal.

Gifts collected October through December 6, 2026, and are distributed by Southwest Community Center and South County Outreach to the families they serve.

Bless a Child in a Hard-to-Reach Area – Pack a Shoebox Gift. Mount of Olives is helping pack 100 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan’s Purse.

We want every child to know God’s love. Shoebox donations are an expression of God’s love to a child and may be the only gift they receive. So, plan to pack quality items that will last. Be sure to make them fun, adding a “wow” item and new toys a child will love; full, with no empty space; and personalized so that each is unique and prayed over and includes a note of encouragement. Finally, don’t forget to include your $10 donation per shoebox to cover the cost of shipping and project costs.

Shoeboxes are being collected on the church courtyard Sunday mornings from October 11 – November 14, 2026. Some empty shoeboxes are available for pickup, for you to fill at the donation table at that time.
